Who is Accolate for ?
Accolate is used to prevent asthma symptoms.
It works by blocking the action of substances that cause
inflammation, fluid retention, mucous secretion, and constriction in
your lungs. Accolate is sometimes prescribed for other uses;
ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information. |

When should I be careful taking Accolate ?
Before taking Accolate,
- tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are
allergic to Zafirlukast or any other drugs.
- tell your doctor and pharmacist what
prescription and nonprescription medications you are taking,
especially anticoagulants ("blood thinners") such as warfarin (Coumadin),
aspirin, erythromycin, terfenadine (Seldane), theophylline (Theo-Dur),
and vitamins.
- tell your doctor if you have or have ever
had liver disease.
- tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan
to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant
while taking Accolate, call your doctor.

Accolate Side Effects
Although side effects from Accolate are not
common, they can occur. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms
are severe or do not go away.
- headache
- upset stomach
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- stomach pain
- dizziness
If you experience any of the following
symptoms, call your doctor immediately.
- stomach pain
- fatigue
- itching
- yellowing of the skin or eyes
- flu-like symptoms
- cold or infection that lasts a long time
