Who is Aminoglutethimide for ?
Aminoglutethimide causes the body to slow
production of natural adrenal hormones. It is used in the treatment
of Cushing's syndrome and some types of cancer which cause increased
adrenal hormones. |

When should I be careful
taking Aminoglutethimide ?
Aminoglutethimide must be used under close
medical supervision. Laboratory test will be done periodically to
check the effects of Aminoglutethimide. This drug should be used in
pregnant or nursing women only if clearly needed. Discuss the risks
and benefits of this therapy with your doctor. Tell your doctor if
you have chicken pox, shingles(herpes zoster), an infection, kidney
or liver disease or an underactive thyroid. Do not drink alcohol
while taking Aminoglutethimide. |

Aminoglutethimide Side Effects
Aminoglutethimide may cause drowsiness,
dizziness, headache, weakness, nausea, or loss of appetite during
the first few weeks of treatment. As your body adjusts to the
medication, the symptoms will disappear. If they continue or become
bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop
any of the following while taking Aminoglutethimide: fainting, rapid
heartbeat, itching, skin rashes, yellowing of the eyes or skin or
breathing difficulties. Use caution when driving or performing other
tasks requiring alertness as Aminoglutethimide may cause dizziness and
drowsiness. |
