Who is Atrovent for ?
Ipratropium is used to prevent wheezing,
shortness of breath, and troubled breathing caused by asthma,
chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and other lung diseases. This
medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor
or pharmacist for more information. |

How does it work ?
Ipratropium is an anticholinergic used in the
treatment of asthma to widen the airways by relaxing and opening air
passages to the lungs, making it easier to breathe.

When should I be careful taking Atrovent ?
Before using ipratropium,
- tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are
allergic to ipratropium, atropine, or any other drugs.
- tell your doctor and pharmacist what
prescription and nonprescription medications you are taking,
including vitamins.
- tell your doctor if you have or have ever
had glaucoma, prostate problems, or difficulty urinating.
- tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan
to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant
while using ipratropium, call your doctor.

Atrovent Side Effects
Although side effects from ipratropium are not
common, they can occur. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms
are severe or do not go away:
- nervousness
- dizziness
- drowsiness
- headache
- upset stomach
- constipation
- cough
- dry mouth or throat irritation
- skin rash
- blurred vision
If you experience either of the following
symptoms, call your doctor immediately:
- increased difficulty breathing
- heart palpitations
