Who is Tegaserod for ?
Tegaserod is a prescription medicine used to
treat women with irritable bowel syndrome who have constipation as
their main symptom (constipation-predominant IBS). There is not yet
enough evidence to show that tegaserod is safe and effective in men
with the same condition. |

When should I be careful
taking Tegaserod ?
Before taking tegaserod,
- tell your doctor and pharmacist if you
are allergic to tegaserod or any other medications.
- tell your doctor and pharmacist about all
prescription and non-prescription medicines you are taking,
especially digoxin, herbals or other supplements.
- tell your doctor if you now have or
frequently have diarrhea.
- tell your doctor if you have or have ever
had liver or kidney disease.
- tell your doctor if you have or have ever
had ever had bowel obstruction, gallbladder disease, or
abdominal adhesions causing pain and/or intestinal blockage.
- tell your doctor if you are pregnant,
plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become
pregnant while takingtegaserod, call your doctor.

Tegaserod Side Effects
Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are
severe or do not go away:
- Diarrhea
- Headache
- Stomach pain
- Nausea
- Gas
If you experience any of the following serious
side effects, stop taking tegaserod call your doctor immediately:
- Severe diarrhea
- Severe abdominal pain or cramping
- Dizziness
