Who is Zantac AR for ?
Zantac AR is used to treat and prevent the
recurrence of ulcers and to treat other conditions where the stomach
makes too much acid. Zantac AR also is used to treat or prevent
occasional heartburn, acid indigestion, or sour stomach. It
decreases the amount of acid made in the stomach. Zantac AR is
available with and without a prescription. Zantac AR is
sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist
for more information.
Zantac AR also is used to treat recurrent
ulcers following surgery and for bleeding in the stomach area caused
by ulcers or gastritis. Talk to your doctor about the possible risks
of using Zantac AR for your condition. |

How does Zantac AR work ?
Zantac AR is a histamine-2 receptor blocker,
or H2-blocker. It works in the stomach on a pump that releases
hydrochloric acid when stimulated by histamine. Zantac AR prevents
histamine from stimulating this pump, thereby reducing the amount of
acid that is released into the stomach. |
