BRUISES CAUSES

An abnormal tendency to bleed can be due to hereditary bleeding disorders like hemophilia, to drugs like coumadin, to diseases of the blood-forming organs like leukemia, or to diseases that increase the fragility of blood vessels. Large or recurring bruises that develop spontaneously or from minor injuries may herald such a problem. The defect may reside in the blood vessels themselves or in any one of the many elements that make up the blood clotting mechanism.
