JET LAG SYMPTOMS |
|
|
|
Traveling through a few time zones at a
time is not as disruptive to circadian rhythms as traveling around
the world can be. Because the intrinsic day is longer than the
earthly day, it is also easier to travel West than East. Beyond the
normal limits, jet lag will occur. The foremost symptom is altered
sleep pattern--sleepiness during the day, insomnia during the night.
Jet lag may also include indigestion and trouble concentrating.
Sometimes the cycle continues to run at 25 or more hours because it
is not reset by daylight. Individuals afflicted by jet lag will
alternate in and out of a normal day-night cycle. |
