MIGRAINE CAUSES |
|
|
|
In up to 70 percent
of cases migraine is inherited. However, the exact mode of
inheritance is poorly understood. Evidence shows that complex
genetic factors can increase the chance of developing migraine by
fourfold. If both parents suffer from migraine then you have a 75
percent chance of developing migraine. If one parent suffers then
you have a 50 percent chance. Most patients experience their first
attack by their late teens. However, a 25-year-old’s risk of
developing migraine is still much greater than the general
population when both parents suffer from migraine. |
