OSTEOPOROSIS
DEFINITION |
|
|
|
Osteoporosis or brittle bone disease, as it is
commonly known, refers to the thinning and weaking of our bones as
we age, making them more susceptible to breaks and fractures.
Osteoporosis
affects one in three women and one in 50 men over the age of 50 in
Ireland. Women are at a greater risk due to the hormone changes
around the time of menopause. |
